Short Bio
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus König was in charge of the scientific evaluation of the first BIM projects in Germany. In 2015, together with other experts, he developed the German road map for digital design and construction. Currently, he is deputy head of the German competence center for the digitalization of construction (BIM Germany). Prof. König published more than 250 technical papers and led several large research projects. For his scientific and practical achievements regarding Building Information Modeling, he received the Konrad Zuse Medal of the German Construction Industry in 2020.
Abstract
Building Information Modelling means a collaborative work method that creates and uses digital models of an asset as a basis for the consistent generation and management of information and data relevant to the asset’s life cycle as well as for the sharing or passing on of such information and data between the participants for further processing by way of transparent communication. During the presentation fundamental principles for an efficient and practical application of Building Information Modeling will be introduced. In particular, the focus will be on the use of open standards, established BIM use cases, challenges in data management, and current developments in the use of digital models for asset management.
